Yes, nearly $18,000, however the value of the dollar has greatly declined. Therefor, $18,000 of todays dollars is like $200 of last years dollars. :D

That's $216,000 a year! I wonder if SASCO even sold that much in a year.

I would think for 2 or 3 years of that kind of rent, you could BUY almost any building in South Bend...especially a big old vacant warehouse.

(Studebaker parts prices just MIGHT increase in the near future [^])

I suspect the killer is the taxes on Commercial property. If its anything like it is here, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised a lot of his rent covers the landlord's property tax. (One can certainly correct me if I am wrong.) Even if he BUYS a 'vacant old building' in SB, he won't be able to escape the business and property taxes. Someone has to pay for clearing all those old Studebaker buildings, ya know!![}:)]
