In an Avanti, what do you think is the max hight of an aftermarket air cleaner that can be utilized without hitting/splitting the fibreglass hood?

Measured from what? It seems the engine height can vary depending on the motor mounts used. What engine and what carburetor. What year? -
Here are a few low profile air cleaners...2" tall and 2&1/4" tall.

Form a piece of modeling clay into a small cylinder the size of your pinky and place it upright on the current, installed air cleaner, then close the hood. When you open the hood, it will tell you how much wiggle room you have...
