I am trying to determine what differential I have on my '51 Champion Starlight Coupe. As best as I can determine, the car should have a Dana 44. But ID on the casting does not seem to match. The first pic is of the casting, the second of the gear ratio tag. I could not find any other numbers, etc.... But then, I have not pulled it off the car either!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A 51 Champion wouldn't originally have a Dana 44, it might have a Dana 23.

The tag indicates 41 divided by 9 or 4.555, an expected ratio in a Champion.

[Edit] correct stupid mistake.

That's a Dana 23. Used on various models through the 50's.

Thanks everyone, now the fun starts on the fixing. The car has plenty of getup and go, just a little short on the stopping part.
