  • Avanti Deal

Another sign I am still broke! I've never had an Avanti and don't consider myself an expert. But if this one is anywhere near what he claims...looks like a good deal to me.

For those that are wanting an "Avanti", it would be a good deal. I guess. Since I only consider an Avanti to be one of those that Studebaker made: 63-64, it isn't a deal to me. But that's just me ...

My wife would tell you that sadly (in her opinion) we have owned several hideous colored cars...'cause with me...the "deal" always trumped the color!

He states that the car has 10,758 miles, but the odometer reads 07580. So it probably has 107580 miles.

You have to read his description! The "GOOD DEAL" is that he says he will accept $6000.00 as a "Buy it Now."[:0]

Nice period color...and better looking then many popular 70s colors.

Looks to be an easy cosmetic restoration...re-stuff the seats, clean (or replace if you're not into shag) the the carpet, replace the radio with a newer unit, and you'd be set to go.
You might want to remove the "cow catcher" frong bumper guards when you're cleaning up the body.

If your state would let you de-smog it, I'm sure the Chevy guys have ways to make the engine run better than stock.

5 mph bumper, federal government mandated beginning in 1973? I believe thats what an Avanti II owner told me.

Looks like one of those JDP Avanti's, there is no such thing as a cheap Avanti. Sure would need a lot of work, and for myself i'd have to paint it before being seen in public. And the engine compartment looks like you would spend a lot of time there.

"Front bumper push Bar" and "rubber chunks" on rear bumper was Avanti II's answer to satisfy Government requirement low speed crash test.

The color is typical of an N&A car. Cow catcher bumper removal is an easy project as I have done it on a 73 which was the first year for them. If Hog Troughs are solid the BIN price is a decent price and buy for the car.If one wants to make it go faster, there is much you can do to the engine. I already have a 73 II to go with a 63 R-2 so don't need this one but for a first Avanti it could make a good one for someone.

Surely there is someone close enough to Cleveland that could call the guy and make a visit to check it out. On my map Cleveland is only a couple of inches between Toledo and Erie. Heck...Akron is only a half inch or so away. Just think of the scenic fall interstate drive you could enjoy. You might find a diamond in the rough or a piece of fiberglass covering a big flake of iron oxide. Broke or not...if I lived within 80 or so miles...I would go take a look. Someone with a little skill and patience could profit off this (and have fun in the process) for $6000 if the car is sound.
