Yes, the beauty shop. Today Katies's Tanning & Day Spa, in a small strip mall in Martinsburg, WV, was sponsoring a cruise-in. It was a donation only entry fee cruise-in with all proceeds going to St Jude's Childrens Hospital. Member Ron Butts' wife, Janie, works at this salon so I knew he would be there with at least one of his cars. I was so-so on going, but Potomac Chapter member Max Mosse, also from Martinsburg, called me and asked if I could bring my '64 Daytona convertible so he could check details under the hood. He is just about to finish a total restoration of a full package '64 R-2 Daytona hardtop and he needed to see how things hooked up under the hood. With that invite and my wife thinking it might be nice to get an $8 haircut while we were there, the decision was made.
Anyhow, the weather was beautiful, about 70, bright and partly cloudy. We actually got six Studebakers there in a total of about 25 cars of all sorts. Here- Witmer's gorgeous '60 Hawk, our '64 Daytona convertible, Ron Butts' 31 rod and his fantastic '59 custom Lark.

A photographer from the Martinsburg Journal showed up and took a lot of pictures. He was absolutely fascinated by the "S" hood ornament on our Daytona and told me to watch the paper tomorrow.
After I got home, Ron Butts called me to report that they had collected a total for $495 for St Jude's (from donations, food sales and a 50-50 drawing).
They had drawings for a number of door prizes during the afternoon. My number was xxxx39. They called xxxx38 and xxxx40- story of my life. However, at the end of the day they called two more numbers and I WON an Anti-Acne Starter Kit:D. Ron Butts got the last item, a woman's flotation swimsuit and what looked like a little pool float:D.

Paul was listing Ron's black 2-door sedan as custom. Max's 4-door looks showroom stock.[:p]

Hard to really tell from that distance, but the Velvet Black Lark appears have '60 tail lenses and side trim. Is it a '59 or a '60? Both cars look very, very nice. That Tahiti Coral W body reminds me of the 2 door wagon that showed up at the Summit meet. That color just says, 1959. [^][8D]

It's a '59 Dave. I thought the same thing from looking at that photo, but I dug around and found some other pics of it. It does have '59 side trim, grille, gauge surrounds and most importantly a 59 cowl tag.[8D]

Scott, I figured you had the skinny on that one. :D I would like to see more pics of that Lark, too! That rear side trim sure looked like it curved, instead of the two piece from that side angle. Makes me miss my black '60. Too much dust work, though. [V]

Dave, here's a link to an unrelated topic, but it does have pics of Ron's '59. I believe these are the same pics that were posted about the car itself, but the pics in that topic aren't working. Skinny

Max has had this car 30 years. When he got it he replaced the original points, condensor, sparkplugs and rotor. It still has most of the original parts otherwise. Paint. interior and chrome is original.

Love the coral lark. Good to see the interior pictures. I've been wanting to see what the cloth looks like.

The trim, tail lights and nameplates all look like 1959 to me.
