Paul if you do get a copy, I'd be interested in it as well.

With a total of eleven cars built 45 years ago, how many do you think still exist with original engine in original car? I know of two.

I asked a simular question on the forum in Dec of 2007. Most of the nine original R3 Avantis are accounted for BUT not everyone agrees of where they are currently. Perhaps two of the Avantis have been seperated from their factory R3 engines.

One was owned by the late Carl J Lange of Uniondale, New York. Now owned by his son Jeffrey.

The nine Avanti's are at the link, Nelson Bove has the R3 lark, and maybe the one R4 and that's the roster.

According to my copy of the roster, 4 of the 9 Avanti's no longer have they're original engine or "block". Also an R4 Lark, 64V15405 has been reported as "eng lost circa. 1966". So that's 5!

Getting pretty thin on complete originals.

The R-4 lark has its engine to my knowledge, I read a article on it being restored. Let me try and find it.

Does Nels have the R4 Lark? If he doesn't then I don't know who would.

The R4 Daytona was built for Car Life Magazine. A SDC membber bought it from Paxton Products in about 1966 or so. The original R4 was long gone and had been replaced with an R3. IIRC the original R4 has never surfaced.
