  • Zip Van

I just aquired a zip van and I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a potential collector\buyer for this vehicle

Why not just join the club...fix it up...and enjoy it? It would make you a great cruise-in vehicle. It is unique, looks fairly complete, a terrific platform for a very unusual custom. Heck...anybody can buy a Ford or Chevy! Besides...you could mount a speaker on top, give it a bright paint job, play some neat "tinker bell music" through the speakers and sell ice cream out the back door to pay for the expenses!

I had one of those once. I paid $40. bucks for it in 1987. Gave it away in 1997. It's in the SNM in South Bend Now. Thanks to the South Ga. Chapter SDC. NT

Seriously Jonathan, Seeing that this is your first post...welcome to the forum. I live in the east and see that you are in the west. I have no idea of your age or if you are familiar with the Studebaker Drivers Club. There are few organizations with the "Family" atmosphere that we have in the SDC. There are some members who have restored and played with those ZIP vans. I would hope you could keep it and make something of it. If not...thanks for seeking someone who will. Hopefully someone in your region will see this post and help you out. Studebakers are like "tater chips!" It is difficult to stop at just one. Grab a couple more and join us.

Not to seem heartless to all you Studebaker fans......but I have to pay rent. It seems sort of a shame to shred a classic into bits. But I dont wanna spend the winter sleeping in a zip van

Well Does it have an engine in it is it all mainly there? I'd give you $250. for it just so it didn't go to scrap. Want to deliver to Fresno Ca? I might have to live in it myself if I bought another Studebaker.

Looks like a great project for the club Anne. Go save it. You could use it to haul a lot of pomegranite jelly to Studebaker events.

I'm glad it's not closer. Being a retired postal employee, I would love to fix that one up. But not at the risk of my marriage.

the motor and tranny are there. no radiator. on a quick overview i saw only one spot of rust about 3" x3" on the left fender behind the front wheel. the floor and ceiling are solid. theres no dash or pedestal seat the steering column is laying in the floor.

I used to have a pedistal seat on the back dock of my post office. I think I threw it away.
