Yes, the State coupes came with a dash pad. It looks like they were glued on, which would make it tough to remove![}:)]

I ASSume that this is the same pad that was used on the later Hawks, yes? shouldn't be too bad to remove, after all the '55 dash is metal not fiberglass... check with Phantom or Jim Lawrence (FBN) to make sure a new pad is available before hacking and slicing though...

good luck

I was aware that the President State sedans had padded dashes. However, I thought all 1955 coupes and hardtops (Champions, Commanders and Presidents)had metal dashes (no covering), except for the Speedster, which had a fibreglass dash.

Just checked the 1955 Perspectives on Value Salesman's book. A "Rubber Crash Pad on Instrument Panel" was standard on President State models, and an accessory on all other models.

Interesting, I also found out that 3 horns were standard on all Presidents, not just Speedsters.

I looked at the parts book before I answered. It shows the pad for the C5 trimmed Presidents and there's NO attaching parts or edge trim. That would mean glue![:I]
