Ok I have a 59 Hawk and I can't buy a new gas tank .I want to make my original tank like NEW. I am going to take it to Strip Clean in California (I live here) and have it cleaned. Now what is the correct finish for the bare metal? Were they ZINK coated or Galvinised or what. They had some kind of finish so they would not rust like all gas tanks. I am not shure of Renu because they coat the tank , there for it does not appear correct and original.Any help Thanks Allan

I used Renu and the inside came back white like porcelain with the outside a metallic colour. Looks great. I don't know if judges would deduct a point for that?

About judging -it's been some years since I've had a Studebaker judged at an International, but I'm pretty sure they use AACA procedures. A judge can only look as far he can under a car while kneeling on one knee - I'll check the judging manual and see if this is still the case. Russ Farris
