  • need drive shaft measurement - 4 spd. Hawk

I need the driveshaft length for a GT Hawk with a 4 speed. Anybody got this info handy?

    Thanks.

    Matt, check your chassis manual.

Don't you have a 1959-1964 Chassis Parts Book, Matthew? See Pages 294-297.

There are several lengths, depending on variables listed. All the lengths are given for reference. BP

I've got every book available on the Trucks. Nothing on cars...

I've been told that a driveshaft from a 4 speed GT Hawk can be used in putting a 4 speed in a C Cab. I'm looking at all my options and seeing if it is indeed possible.

If nobody has it before then, I have measurements from that GT chassis that was at Cedar Rapids in the swap area at home. Will need to wait till this evening to find my notes. My rough recollection was it something a little over 57" from U joint center to center.

Thanks Jeff. U-joint to u-joint is what I need.

Is the shaft different from a 62 (Chevy pattern trans) to a 63 (Ford pattern)?

                Per the parts book --
                Spicer equipped: 57-5/8" ('61-'62, and some '64)
                Mechanics equipped: 57-7/16" ('63-'64)

Thanks guys. That's what I needed to know.

After doing some measuring... I THINK the shaft out of the 4 speed Lark will work perfect with the T10 in the C Cab. I might just have to find out...

                    Just to follow up....

My notes showed I measured 57-1/2" long and 3-1/4" OD on that shaft. I was using a tape measure w/o a helper to hold the end so it could be off a bit +/-.
