  • San Diego SDC show 8/22/09-- Did anyone go?

I had been planning to go to this show since the San Diego Chapter decided to do it. I helped with some of the early planning-- but then I moved 1700 miles away!!! Ever since I left San Diego, just about everything I'd planned has not gone quite the way I'd hoped. As such I had no way to get there, and missed out on the show... [:0] [V]

So I ask- did anyone make it down there to Balboa Park yesterday?

edited to correct date in title... [V]

Do you mean 8/22/09? Aug or Sep? I would be interested in going if it is next month.

Yes, I went along with another member of the Los Angeles Chapter of SDC. We drove from just north of Los Angeles (Sylmar) to the show in his really nice '54 Champion coupe. It is Chevy small block powered, with a GM 700R4, A/C, power steering, seats and windows. Drove just like a new car, 150 miles each way!
That's what Studebakers are for, driving!
Great show! The venue (behind the museum) is a little crowded, but very nice (trees, shade, etc.). Lots of cars (around 50 someone said). Studes, Packards, a Pierce Arrow (VERY NICE) and even an Erskine! Nice crowd, well organized show. I think everyone had a good time. We'll be there next year, hopefully with more of our club and their cars.

'53 Commander Starliner (Finally running and driving, but still in process)
'56 Golden Hawk (3 speed/overdrive, Power steering - Running, but not yet driving)
'58 Packard Hawk. A partially restored car that was not completely assembled.

Sounds like I missed a good one. [V] I'm glad to hear that the local Stude-related Clubs made it as well- I knew they had been invited. Rumor had it (before I left) that next year they were going to shoot for a location out in the East County that is a quite a bit larger...
              Gonna be a fun one!!!
