  • '62 / '63 Lark trunk locks

The trunk lock housings for '62 & '63 Larks have been out of stock for at lest 6 months now at all the vendors. The problem with them is that damned pot metal "tail" that snaps off - too much leverage exerted by not enough material.

So I'm thinking about making my own, with a beefier cross section, and I've been pondering the best way to do it. I suppose the easiest way would be to cast a duplicate part from epoxy or resin, but I don't think that would hold up. I could always use brass or aluminum stock. Or there's non-traditional materials like Lucite.

    Any thoughts?

If you can afford it Brass would hold up better than anything else you mentioned with the exception of steel. you wouldn't twist it off, you would more than likely break the key then.
