  • Started putting Bess back together again...

I started putting Bess back together again this past few weeks, where there was time. I put the manifold and carb on her that came from Kent's place:

Course, LOL I've yet to put the engine back in. One can't see it, but I put the new throw-out bearing in too. All I have to do now is drill the '52 tranny and tap to recieve the bracket for the clutch and in it all goes. Then it won't be long before the old girl is back on the road.

Reminds me of a 1955 Plymouth Wagon I looked at. It was clean on the out side and on the in side raised the hood it hadn't been clean since 1955. I forgot about it right there.

Oi, you fellas remind me of my mum (LOL)! I'd love to clean Bess' motor up thoroughly. Would you like to lend me a pressure washer? Some of the grime on the motor and the chassis on Bess would need extremely hot water and a scraper (LOL)... make that several scrapers...[B)] at the same time! Yes, I'd love to do it. My focus is on what I can do with the resources I currently have, and not what I'd love to do with resources I don't have. Right now, I'd like to just get Bess back on the road. Detailing the car would cost more in rentals of equipment and time than I have available.

Sorry, but I'm just really excited to be back on track to getting the old girl going again.

Studeclunker, if it was mine I would make some effort to clean that baby up - not to detail it, but to make it SO much more pleasant to work on -

New paint never smells as wonderful as old grease and dirt. Stick with it Ron, and make her run like a baby!

Ron,it's time to keep a cool head now!
When Bess springs a leak from scrubbing
where will all these sanitary folks be?
As soon as she pulls her own weight again
i would treat her to a basic sponge-bath.

                        Good luck,

my experience has been that the grease ball motors are the best runners, when I worked at the garage doing motor switches that's how it always worked out, clean means its been messed with and probably taken apart at some time. greasy and untouched good motor!
