At the recent Annual All Chapter Picnic and Classic & Orphan Car Show-n-Shine at the Parker Ranch last Sunday Aug. 9, I met and rode with an interesting fellow, Mike Cross from New Zealand, the President of the Studebaker Drivers Club of New Zealand Inc.

Great gentleman, interesting guy and owner of several restored nice Studes. one of which is a recently completed 1951 Commander Eight 4dr. Overdrive.
We enjoyed a comfortable ride in Stephanie and James Bell's Bordeaux Red '64 Daytona 4dr. Sedan. It is a over 100 mile trip down South to the Porter Ranch on the Green River of Western Washington State from Bellingham up North within 20 miles of the Canadian Border.

Here is Mike (Red shirt) and I, in my driveway with my Son Mike's '65 Cruiser 283 Overdrive, after Mike Cross and I took a little cruise around Whatcom County, the Alaska and Victoria B.C Ferry Terminal and parts of the Old Fairhaven Village & Neighborhood of Bellingham in it. [^] Funny thing is, for some reason when entering someone's car as a passenger, he always tries to sit on the LEFT! [:0]
Here is the Bell's '64 Daytona and my Son Mike's '65 Cruiser.
At the Parker Ranch Picnic at the Green River, fishing anyone?
A really nice Bordeaux Red R1 4 Speed non-package '64 Daytona Convertible showed up. It has been in the
Seattle Area over 30 years.
Nice ORIGINAL Maroon all vinyl Interior!

You need to go down to New Zealand and visit with the Kiwi's and see their beautiful country and meet more of those friendly people.

It's nice to travel the world and realize you have friends everywhere that own Stude's. I've never met a Studebaker owner I didn't like. And that's a fact!

Thanks for sharing the pics! I'd like to make that event one of these days, at it would be a nice criuse over Chinook Pass from Yakima. [8]
