Transtar pick-up upgrade.

I recently bought a 1956 Transtar. I want to upgrade it so I can drive it to work occasionally. Some people have suggested that I make life alot easier and buy a Chevy s-10 and roll everything from the frame down underneath. This will give me the upgraded: shocks, brakes, frame, front and rear end etc. The question is, has anyone done this and what truck would you use. Let me apologize in advance for those who think I am killing a beautiful truck.

This question or ones like it come up all the time. You might want to try the search function. Try searching S-10. Kits are available to upgrade to front disc brakes, and many other improvements can be made without changing frames. No frame is an exact match -- no matter which one you chose, a lot of fabrication will be required.
