  • Lark update - turning to mild custom

Well my 59 is at the paint shop getting its new color. Here are a few pictures of the progress. The car will soon no longer be tahiti coral. Its being refinished in the 1958 color Shadowtone Red.

She'll be back in about a week. I did all the prep work and removed all the chrome. The door jambs, engine compartment and trunk are all being painted to match. Granted its a not an original color for the Lark, but it is a Studebaker color. I'm going to finish the car as if that color was offered in 59.

Shadowtone Red is a striking color. This Lark should look real good!

IMHO The red will be a better color for that car. Sounds good.

This is that lark from bob Peterson isn't it?
          I wanted it then.
          Still want it now.
Will still want it when red. Even though I like the Tahiti Coral plenty.

This was the Peterson car. Its pretty much been completely gone through now. The only thing left after the paint is carpet and upholstery. This ones not going anywhere, its found its home. Plus the entry fee for it would be considerably higher than it was in December.

I know what you mean about not letting the car go. You get attached to those '59 & '60 Larks. They're cute cars. Yours looks really sound. Looking forward to seeing it in its new color.

Me too...my favorite '59 color. Just screams 50's. I'd have to keep it Coral, but you should paint it YOUR favorite color [^].

Your '59 is going to look VERY nice Bob, from the uncured, unbuffed, masked not so great Pic in the blazing Palms Springs sunshine it is a bit hard to tell.

But my guess is, that it's going to look a lot more like Avanti Red than the Shadowtone Red (Plum) '58 color. But then who cares, a non-stock color that looks great and is your choice looks just wonderful anyway. WITH the right wheels and tires, that is what puts the real "LOOK" on them! [^]

I know it's expensive, but radial wide white wall tires would look just great on this car. Russ Farris
