  • buying a 57 Provincial Wagon

I just stumbled across this little beaut. Its a high desert car no rust, interior suppossed to be good, headliner supposed to be good, supposed to run and is straight as an arrow says he. he only has this one picture, but is going to get me some more before we finalize things.

let me know what to ask for these are new territory for me. Any chance it has a supercharger? I know that Studebaker would built anything you asked for, but was that a common option for a wagon?

Nice Stude wagon but can't help but notice the vehicle next to it. I believe those Chevy forward cab pickups with the Corvair engine are pretty rare. I have only seen a couple of those that I can recall.

Sorry I can't help you with the value of the Provincial.

The whole price depends upon condition, condition, and condition (to paraphrase a catch-phrase from the realestate people). Condition of the body and paint. Condition of the engine and condition of the interior. If they're all perfect, I'd say the car would be worth upwards of five thousand. If there were some flaws that still allowed for a decent driver, maybe fifteen hundred to twenty-five hundred. If the car has a good interior and doesn't run enough to drive, well... maybe around a grand. So on and so forth. the car is worth only what you are willing to spend on it, regardless of what the P.O. wants for it.

Sorry, I was watching a movie and missed a word or to, what I meant was what to ask about as far as problem areas or what to ask the owner to look for, not value?

Corvair Rampside -really cool little rides, but watch out for rust!!!

I've always thought they'd be the perfect fleet vehicle for a lawncare biz [8D]

That's what's in my garage right now. Not my cup-o-tea, but Linda likes it, so it's on stands awaiting all the new brake parts in a pile next to it[:I]

Watch for the rust in the regular spots, floorboards, rear quarters lower edge just forward of rear bumper, and the little dog leg just forward of the rear wheel at the rocker. The standard Stude mechanicals should be factored in, nothing speical here, likley a 259 V/8, 2bbl. I paid about 5 grand for the (running, stoping, registured, driving, good interior, shinny and nice) beauty seen below, and am pushing close to 10 grand to have a reliable daily driver, so cost can be a factor. Ron is on it, 1 to 5 grand.
I must say, they are nice cars to drive, ours is the most smooth and solid feeing Stude we've owned.

If pictures are worth 1000 words~
that one picture tells me it might be worth $2000...
if all of those words are also true.

If you pass on this one~ let me know.

As you can see below- I have a few '57s...

The other is being rained on out in the driveway!!!
