I went back out in the garage and looked and the stamped # is K41-3. It`s not a slide in, and it is a short tail. Thanks

Looks to me like October 4th, 1951, 3rd shift:

Well; we can't tell you what you have, since it's a home-built car. But I can tell you what it COULD be, and where to look to verify it.
On the back side of the diff. housing, lower right side there is a web between the "pumpkin" and the axle tube. On that there should be a raised # in the casting. It should be a "44", if this '51 is a Commander but could be a "23", or "27" they are all Dana/Spicer tapered axle rear ends, the later are for lightweight low powered cars. The ratio should stamped be on a tin tag under a bolt on the rear cover, usually at about 7 or 8:00 (under left lower bolt).

                    50-11, 50 divided by 11 equals 4.5454. That's usually called 4.54 or 4.55, makes a 232 pretty quick, runs a larger engine too fast.

My `51 Commander has a `62 259. I plan on building it up some. It should be a pretty quick car to cruise around town in, with 4.55 gears

                      Is this a Dana 44

There will be a 44, a 23, or a 27 in the web between the right axle and the pumpkin. This will tell which Dana rear end it is...
