Studebaker...a good place to park your money
Studebaker...solid as the Royal Bank of Scotland
Those who know the value of money drive a Studebaker

PS. I wonder if they thought about using a Lark Scotsman?
Okay... it's not an armored car...but maybe as a transport for small change?

Okay, I'll quit. [:I]

It never ceases to amaze me where Studebakers turn up. In 1946 the Royal Bank of Scotland began using a Studebaker bought from the US Army as a mobile bank, roaming 50 miles a day to various points. In 1949 it was replaced by a Ford product on an Austin chassis, I believe and the same driver was employed for 30 years and never had an accident. The service is still offered by the bank, as is their boat bank and even a flying bank.

I have written to the media contact person at the bank (RBS.com) and if I can get a photo of the Studebaker I'll post it.

Here is a photo I found on the RBS website describing the history of mobile banking. They claim this Studebaker was the first mobile bank in the world.
