  • Installing a new column shift knob?

I got a nice new white knob for my on-the-column shift lever. The question is, how do I get the old one off? Cut it? And then how do I finesse the new one on?

Cut it or break it I guess.
You may be able to soften the new knob by thoroughly heating it in very hot water. Likewise, dry ice to the shifter will shrink the metal a little. I got mine on but I think all I did was heat the knob.

      Clark,

My Avanti is done, well 99%......if you'd like to see it, come on over between today and Sunday, Monday it will go back to the paint shop to correct some minor issues, then back to Fallbrook for some final mechanical cleanup.
