Tail lights '53 vs '56?

there are several cosmetic differences between the two years. My question is wheather they would fit the housings. I have a broken lens on my '56 that I'd like to replace. Still, they're only twenty bucks from SI. Just wondering.

I own a 54 & a 55....I don't think they are the same 53-56.

They are not. the housings are the same 55 and 56 I think that's it. they may be the same 53 and 54 as well, not sure.

I'm not so sure for sedans and wagons.

For Cs and Ks, 55 and 56 chrome was the same, and the red lenses would interchange, but 55 is rounded, and 56 has a flat part. (i.e. they don't look the same but they will fit.)
53 and 54 CK chrome is also similar, and taillights would interchange but I can't remember if red lenses are identical - I think so.

53 sedan = 56 sedan ? I don't believe so - my recollection is that 53-55 sedans have the same taller trigular shape, while the 56 sedan is about the same height but the sides are parallel.

Sedans definitely do not interchange with CKs.
