Somehow, somewhere I ended up with 2 drivers side exhaust manifolds for the 283 McKinnen Studes. One exits straight down, the other exits at about a 45 degree angle toward the firewall.Which one is correct for the application? Thank You for the help!

Straight down.
Keep in mind, the driver's side manifold on a 283 in a Stude did NOT have the mount for the alternator...it was on the passenger side manifold, A 283 in a Chevy had the alternator mount on the drivers side and the passenger side was clean.

Thanks Dick and Craig. NEITHER of the ones I have look like the one in Craig's picture as far as alternator mounting. Both of mine have the alt. bracket, and one I found at SASCO sitting on a filing cabinet brand new. I can understand how that drivers side mount would screw with the battery location.Guess the hunt is on for a passenger side manifold!!!

If I remeber correctly the right side exhaust manifold is the same as the left. I remember a separate cast bracket that bolts over the existing manifold that holds the alternator base. Two of the front bolts hold it. I used that bracket with spacers on mine for the block hugger headers.
