Most '58 sedans came standard with 14" wheels, Mike. Someone probably swapped 15s onto yours along the way.

Matthew was looking for the left and right sub-panels that go below the bumper ends. Got those???

I'm always interested in spares...

What condition are the chrome bits in? Pitted at all?

GUYS, I ONLY HAVE 1 PR. OF THE LOWER SPLASH SHIELD THAT THE PARKING LIGHTS (SMALL ROUND) ARE MOUNTED INTO. I AM PLANNING ON USING THEM ON MY CAR. THE PARTS THAT A DO HAVE ARE THE TOP GRILL MOULDING PCS, TWO RH PCS, AND 1 LH PC. I HAVE BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT GRILLE EXTENSIONS, SLIGHT DAMAGE ON LH SIDE PC. THE CHROME ON THE MOULDING (UNDER THE HEADLIGHTS) IS IN GREAT SHAPE. I ALSO HAVE AN EXTRA BUMBER AND BUMPER MOUNT BAR ASSM. IF ANY ONE IS INTERESTED I WILL POST OR EMAIL SOME PICS.

:) Ironically, Bob, as hard as it is to believe, most 1958 Studebaker passenger cars came with 15" wheels! That's because all six-cylinder cars, including all those popular Scotsmans, had 15" wheels, whereas V-8s had 14" wheels with 15" optional.

By actual numbers, Studebaker built 31,197 1958 six-cylinder cars, all of which would have had 15" wheels. They also built 22,691 V-8 cars and, while most of them had the standard 14" wheels, some had the optional 15" wheels.

For all the hoopla we normally associate with "14" wheels for 1958," it occurred to me when I read your post that most of the 1958 production actually had 15" wheels.[:0];)

More trivia in researching this: Studebaker built 88 1958 Scotsman V-8s for fleet/police orders![:p] I wonder if those 88 had 14" or 15" wheels...or some of each?[8D] :DBP

BP, as I wrote my post, I had it in my head that it was only the Scotsmans that had the 15" as standard. I didn't realize all 6cyl sedans got 15s standard.[:I]

907-1958, yes, that would've been the right cap for the Champions (P/N 519116).

The Scotsmans got the same cover - only painted the same color as the car![:0] As replacements, they would have come in primer (P/N 1544175P)

BP,

Looking at the pic of a 58 cop car, it's obvious that it's wearing 15" wheels. Of course, that's only one car.[:I]

:) And 6-cylinder 1958 Silver Hawks, too, Bob, as well as all 1958 Champion sedans. So if a dealer ordered two identical 1958 Silver Hawks, one a Six and one a V-8, the V-8 would arrive with 14" wheels and the Six would arrive with 15" wheels! Weird. :DBP
