  • Sound System

I have read quite a few of the posts here about repairs/ modifications- I'm deciding between (A) a rebuild of my 57 Delco pushbutton (maybe add a line in) and replace or recone the speakers and (B) save the money on the rebuild and buy a hidden system. i don't want to gut the Delco and put in solid state.

Anyone care to comment on the sound of a rebuilt mono Delco, maybe with a cd or ipod plugged in? Or much better with a modern system?

A lot of the decision can only be made by you. A lot is based on - How much time do you plan on being in the '57?, How important is good sound to you?, Do you want the '57 to remain stock, or at least appear stock?

For me, a properly working '57 radio is fine.

I drove my '53 Commander Starliner three round trips from NY to IN with no radio (except CB on one trip).
