  • Hawk buff out completed

I finished color sanding and buffing the Canadian Hawk today. It's too rainy to get it outside, so here's a shot of it in the garage. When it stops raining, I'll post some close ups of why this car will be repainted.

(clue: If you look up "twenty footer" in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of this car [^])

Wheel covers are stripped pending the arrival of one of those vinyl kits to re-do the painted portions. Has anyone used one of those kits before?

I wish you guys would quite showing these nice clean garages. My wife sees these and she is on my but for having the dirtest garage in town. I have my tractor in there getting ready it for next spring and a 56 wagon being torn apart. Dirt and mud everywhere. I envy those with clean garages.

I take back what I said about the dog dish hubcaps and blackwalls. It looks wonderful the way it is!

I have never used those wheel cover kits, just the old dab the paint in with a paintbrush method. I will like to know what you think of them.

To tell you the truth, these GT's were never some of my favorite Studes either. I have probably liked Larks and wagons better than these over the years. This one is growing on me, however (as they all do [^]). I think it's the right color for a GT. They were a fairly "formal" design and the Gold is a fairly formal color for them. Also, one of my favorite long term daily drivers was a 525i this same color with a black interior and a 5 speed. I loved that car and I think the fact that this was Stude's version of that same car 30-40 years earlier makes this one more special for me.
