On another thread about an R3 Avanti, the statement was made:

Were all nine of the factory R3s equipped with aluminum intakes?

I have it on good authority from a forty-year Studebaker expert who did some sub-contract work at Paxton that he saw cast iron R3 intakes for sale there alongside the aluminum versions. Anyone ever seen an iron R3 intake?

Don't know about the R3 intake, but I ran across a cast iron R4 intake once. I thought it had to be a modified Cadillac at first, but it was indeed a genuine Stude R4 intake. This was about 20 years ago . . .

The R3 and R4 intakes both list Aluminum under the material on the blueprints.
