  • 1950 Champion Fuel Pump

I am getting ready to take our 50 Champion to the 4th of July car show. Went to start it up and found out the fuel pump is bad. No time to have the original pump rebuilt so the local Car Quest store got me a Airtech pump #6790 today. I put that pump on and it does not work. I blew out the fuel lines and all good there.
My question: Is there a different fuel pump for the 1950 Commander 6 cylinder OR are they both the same and I just got a bad repo. part?

Need to drive this car on the 4th of July

    Thanks for all input

    Rick,
I just checked AIRTEX website and it lists an AIRTEX 527 for the 1950 Champion. They show the 6790 as fitting the '65~'66 Studebaker which would have the Chevy 6 engine. They gave you the wrong fuel pump.

Here is the link to the AIRTEX online catalog: http://www.showmetheparts.com/airtex/.

      Thanks Dan,

That pump did not look right but it did bolt up to the engine so we gave it a try. I called the parts store and they are getting a #527 pump to me ASAP. They are usally pretty good on getting the right parts but not THIS TIME!
We might be driving the Champ on 4th of July after all!
      Thanks Again
