A lot of west coast Studes have that kind of wrap around rear bumper.
Must be a regional thing, maybe dealer added....

I have seen those heavy duty bumpers on all kinds of trucks here in the south. It must have been an industry standard on real working trucks. Heck...I have seen those bumpers still intact in junk yards lying just behind the "heap" of rust that used to be the truck it was attached to!

Looks very much like the diamond plate bumper on my Champ. What brought my attention is the rubber edging between the bumper & bedside and the way it curves inward at the front lower side. Later on today I'll look at the tag & post whatever I can read off of it.

My experience thru the years (and many Stude trucks) has been to find more with those step bumpers than with the factory rear bumpers (non-step style).
Nice Champ. Some stainless or white painted wheelcovers would top it off.

"My question is can you put a 64 front end on these trucks?"
You can, and I helped do one once, however it is a chore.
The easy part is that the 64 fenders will bolt on, and the raised side line will even match up to the one on the door.
The hood is where the real work begins. Because the early lark cowl has a different shape, you have to cut both hoods about 6 or 8 inches ahead of the rear edge, and do a graft, most of the '64 hood onto the rear of the truck hood.
Then you have to figure out how to get air to the heater/vents, and how to make the lower valance/front bumper look "right" given the truck frame rails.
There has been a picture of one posted on this forum. Maybe someone can share it again?

Geez! If they had modernized the Champ that way in '64, I bet they'd have sold like hotcakes.
