  • Will other carbs fit on 259 -4 barrel manifold

Would other carbs fit on the 259 -4 barrel?

  • #2
    In a word, yes.
WCFB will bolt on a Stude WCFB intake.

An AFB will bolt on a Stude WCFB intake if:
    (a) You machine the secondary bores to clear the AFB secondary butterflies.
    Or.....
    (b) You put a heat insulator gasket stack on there...
    Or....
    (c) You run a carb adapter.
    And...
You will need to do some minor linkage modifications to get it to work.

An AFB will bolt to a Stude AFB intake manifold.
(You will need to do some minor modifications to get the linkage to fit properly)

An old Autolite will bolt up...if you can find a decent one.
There's a new Holley out that is supposed to compete with the Edelbrock AFB that should also bolt on.
The new Holley is 600cfm, which 'might' be a tad on the large size for a stocker 259.

    Why do you ask?
    Just curious...

Does a Rochester 4 Jet have the same bolt pattern as a WCFB?

I must have missed it, but I didn't see where it said if a Rochester 4 jet has the same bolt pattern as a WCFB.

Yes they are the same bolt pattern, and they work fine on the Stude. WCFB Manifold, I have run one on a '57 Intake.

It didn't; nor did I say it did. I was responding to "Mike"s original post.

GM used both the WCFB and 4 Jet on the same intake manifolds for years.
