On E-bay right now is a 1961 NOS stude 4 dr wagon body STILL ON THE PLANT assmembly cart. Now I have heard of plant employees walking out with a roll of tape or a tool or even a welder or two BUT a entire body(still on the doly). WOW no wonder Studebaker no longer exist. E-bay # 220435081010.

Here's a club project: Before SASCO closes its doors, use this body and SASCO parts to try to put together an entire NOS '61 Wagon!

That would be cool! Then put it in the museum as the lowest mileage stude in the world. Talk about survivor cars. Imagine what would happen when it was entered in a original class at a show.

I'm no expert, as to the NOS of the whole car body or the assembly line dolly, some things seem too good to be true until some investigation begins.
It's a shame to have a project vehicle sold in pieces, especially if someone is really interested, I like a package deal, BUT until you own it the owner can do what ever he likes and I respect that.
However, if somone wants this project a 61 they better look for a correct front panel and hood, cause the one pictured is not a 61, and I'm sure the hood is wrong. The front fender trim holes, with a little work can be modified to accept either of the three years trim 59-61.
Could be a fun project, if someone has the time and finances. Definitely not a rust bucket.
Plus at this stage of the cars life its a good starting point to make a 2dr, (if rear panels are available) and some pillar cutting.
Just one mans opinion.

I'd love to hear this guy's story. How in heck did something like that get out the factory doors?
