  • I bought another one- UPDATE w/new pics

So i got a call yesterday about a car here in Saskatchewan for sale. Heard stories about it, but always heard it was a 4 door sedan. Turns out it wasn't. I got an email with pics, called about it, and this morning made the deal. The car is plain jane, but 33,000 original miles, and other guys who've looked at it say that the mileage appears to be original. Dad's going to pick it up on Friday for me. I need the Lark letters for the right front fender, and if anyone has a driver-quality hood ornament, i could use one of those too. That brings my Stude fleet to 3- which is too many, so it looks like the 50 starlight will be looking for a new owner this summer. Pics of the new car here:

Teaser! I'll say! That's my car when she was new: I'd put money down that's the elusive Canada-only P6218 Metallic Blue my Lark "Betty" once wore. Most singular of all: Betty, too is minus the LARK lettering for one front fender...in this case, the left one. How weird is that. (I may even have two sets of LARK letters; ordered some from SI and I think I may have opted for two sets to save money. If I find 'em and there are indeed eight, you can have four of 'em, since I only need one side too). The only significant visual difference I can see is your Lark has the small hubcaps; mine has the full wheelcovers (as it did when new). Boyyy does this make me want to get Betty painted...

What's the powertrain on this little blue sweetie?

              S.

PS...Craig/Kreskin...right you are (and a quicker poster than me too)!

Cool find! I've got several of those hood ornaments.

                  1957 Transtar 1/2ton
                  1963 Cruiser
                  1960 Larkvertible V8

                  1953 Commander coupe
                  1957 President two door

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

                          Rich,
That Camper is also a one-off. 1/64 scale camper built by my dad to fit on the husky/matchbox wagonaire casting. All of those customs are made by my dad- he's got talent. I've been thinking of submitting the pics for the toys and models column in TW.

Since the Lark is in the south part of the province, my dad made the 50 mile trip for him to look at it and bring it home. It has no brakes, but is as solid as they said it was. It does have a little miss, which he will work on this week. He didn't find any signs of floor or trunk rust. In fact, when he pulled the trunk liner up, he was greeted by shiny paint! This weekend he plans to give it a tune-up, see if he can get the brakes up and go from there.
Here he is arriving back home with it:

And here's a shot of the interior:

He'll also check for the secret serial no and the tag under the glove compartment.
