  • Changing Rearend Ratio

I have a '54 Champion with a Dana 23, 4.56 ratio differential. I'd Like to change it to a 4.10. I'm thinking the easiest thing to do would be to just swap out the rearend complete. Anyone have a 4.10 laying around within reasonable distance to the Northwest? I think a Dana 27 would bolt in, but I'd need the complete rearend including hubs and drums.

    Thanks,

Don't overlook a 4.09 Dana 44 if you stumble over one. In fact, I may have a completely rebuilt 3.90 out of a '56J which would also work and within reasonable driving distance from you.

    thnx, jack vines.

Well I suppose a 44 would be OK, although it would probably be overkill for the little Champion 6. I don't think I want to go any lower than around 4.10 however. Wouldn't a Lark bolt in? Seems like there would be a lot of those laying around.

SASCO still has them brand new--you can even get a Twin Traction last time I checked . . .
