Paint code and body parts needed

I need to get some paint for the '58 Commander. My local guy says he can mix up the paint using the factory code.

Anyone happen to know the numbers? 1958 colors Jewel Beige and Canyon Copper Metallic.

Rich, he used to deal with PPG. I forget what brand he changed to.

I only need it for the rocker panels and pieces up under the front bumper.

I agree, Brad. It's too nice to redo, unless a 400 point show car is your goal. And like many have said, "they're only original once".

BTW.. Does anyone have a set of nice, straight, rust free under-the-front-bumper panels? I don't know what you'd call 'em.. Air deflectors, maybe? The turn signals (parking lights) are mounted in this panel. Mine (both sides) are all banged up.

Hard to see them from that picture, but you'd be farther ahead (and save some money) by just fixing yours! Pull them off and hang a couple generic temp. lights, and practice your skills! They don't need to be perfect- they're barel;y seen.

A few years ago I was told to get the PPG formula number for my 63 rose mist & they would match it. As it turned out, all that was to substitute for a later formula that really didnt match at all. Perhaps you can have him make up just a pint to see just how close a match it is.

Dave, I thought they were Beige like the topside of the car. There isn't much paint left on them, but what's there looks to be beige, not silver.

The local guy couldn't do anything with the factory paint codes. Grr...

Anybody got a can of Canyon Copper Metallic and Jewel Beige laying around??

If you can get the car to a paint suppliers shop they can match the car with a color Spectrometer. They find a hidden spot of good paint, scan it with a wand and the computer does the rest. it with the

Interesting authenticity question on the splash panel color. I can't find any documentation on it. I've seen them both ways, and I wonder if a change from silver paint to body color was made during the model year. That still doesn't explain beige paint on yours.
Did your paint guy indicate he expected a different number for your colors? For paint orders from the factory parts dept. the codes were BCJ for Jewel Beige and BCL for Canyon Copper.
