So is that where you've been hanging out instead of here??:(

This one is Pistol Pete Corey, the Crescent Hillbilly- one of the all-time greats- talented, fearless, and a real character! Lost a leg in '69, but came back faster and better than ever- and loved to goof on people with a transistor radio hidden in his wooden leg[8D]

That picture is taken at the Fonda (NY) Speedway, one of the fastest and toughest tracks I've ever raced on! The first and second turns are wide and sweeping, and border right on the main street in town... the back straight is right on the edge of the Mohawk River, and the third and fourth turns are super-tight, making the track egg-shaped. If you've got the stones, that's where you can do the most passing- since most don't;) A real hard-nosed, man's race track. I sure miss those places...

This picture is in the infield; the Cow Palace is just off the fourth turn, and the historic covered granstands are just past his left shoulder, just out of view:

Hey, now - I've spotted Leonard over on the AACA & Hemmings Forums, he gets around and spreads his Studebaker love far & wide.
Don't be buggin' 'bout my main man Leonard!

:) If anyone has a few moments, click on the link Bams provides and read "The Story of Pete Corey." Wow, what a character! :DBP
