I was observing the front end last night on the 1961 hawk and where the lower control arms bolt to the under frame looked rusty, I was wondering if I replace the lower control arms does the bolt come though the front of the frame or are there u clamps that are bolted to the area. there is so much crud here I would have to blast it with sand to see clearly.when I move the car up and down I see what I think to be the bushing moving freely.

There are bolts and nuts that hold it on.

Ok now my question is if I drill those bolts out will the coil spring jump out, is there anything that will hold it? I should be very careful with this,Is there an outfit that sells a rebuild kit for the whole front end, bushings, inner and outer rods and kingpins if this system uses them?

Yes the spring will jump out,get yourself a shop manual from one of the vendors and be safe, it will explain the removal procedure in detail. You should not have to drill the bolts out as they are bolts with nuts on them. There are two bolts with nuts in front and two more in the rear of the lower control arm that hold it on, they are in a channel shaped part of the frame that is hard to see without removing the crud first.

Get the crud cleaned out. Hopefully your control arm is still solid. Bushings and pivot kits are available from major vendors.
