It's not really a retro-rod persay, not sure why I called it that, it's more a full custom street rod.
Hi,
I'm not a Studebaker Driver Member as such but I do own a '50 Studebaker Champ which I've been working on for 10 yrs.
The car is in it's final assembly and I hope to be on the road this summer. I'm also hoping my membership here is accepted amoungst the purists as my car is not stock. Most of the work I done myself with the exception of major welding which was handled by a professional.
My '50 Studebaker has a custom built 3x5 frame ( government engineer's requirements ), Mustang II crossmember with Horton's Evolution IFS tubular upper & lower control arms, Mustang spindles and power rack & pinion, '78 Granada 11" rotors and calipers. A shortened Dodge 8 3/4" Posi Sure-Grip with Bear Racing Axles, '96 Intrepid 11" rotors, '87 TransAm calipers & backing plates, Air Ride Technologies Tri-angulated 4 Link with Ride ProE computer controlled Shockwave Air Bags.
Running a blown 350/355 SBC 4 bolt main mated to a TH350 Turbo Automatic with a 3000 stall, B&M pro-bandit ratchet shifter. The engine sports a B&M 144 Blower, a 700 cfm Holley Double Pumper, 882 large chamber heads, mild street cam, blower pistons, etc. The engine was dyno'd at 400 hp 480 ft.lbs. 9 lbs of boost. The front of the engine has a polished Billet Specialties Tru-Trac System.
Roof was chopped 3", remote tilt front clip, shaved doors with remote door poppers, draw down trunk actuator, 18" American Eagle wheels, BFG KDW 255-40ZR front & 275-40ZR rear. Painted Sunset Orange Karizzma with Infiniti Tan Leather interior.
