Just had a guy see me driveing my pickup today and he told me he had a 1950 1 /12 ton dump R series truck thats he's scrapeing out. After going to check it out it's one I knew about some years ago and I know that history on it the bodys shot. But the motor runs and he told me I could have anything I want off it before it go's.

I'm getting some chrome off it thats still good and some fog lights that look new with studebaker written on them I asked about the motor and he said it's mine
So not to watch a running flathead get scraped I'm takeing it. Now come 's the Question it looks the same as the 53 I have the commander big six and has a 4 speed with a two speed rear axle.
I'm takeing the motor and tran's complete.

IS THIS ENGINE THE SAME AS THE COMMANDER OR DOE'S IT HAVE A DIFFERENT BORE AND STORKE ?????

Check the serial plate... if it's a model 2R 16A (or 17A), then it has the 245.6 Commander motor. If it is listed as a model 2R 16 (or 17), then it has the earlier Commander motor that displaced 226 cu. in.
All this assumes the motor is original to the truck! :)
