Not sure if this belongs in the general or technical forum.
Since pulling the engine and trany of my M5 I have started cleaning up the frame for painting. I noticed that the first crossmember is missing a rivet on the top of the frame on the drivers side. After a closer look I noticed also that the crossmember is welded to the frame on the top flange. The rivets are not in the side of the member and it has been welded on the web through the holes of the missing rivets. The rest of the crossmembers are riveted and the frame shows no damage from an accident and it doesn't look like it has seen a frame chiropracter, everything is straight.Is this something Studebaker did normally or is my truck like me just a bit abnormal?
