Impressive, but now is old info.
The NHRA continues to reduce the power of the nitro powered classes, and is even considering reducing the cubic displacement from 500 to 413 cubic inches, only 1 fuel pump and magneto, etc.
The nitro classes of the future will be relegated to power & speeds of the 80's.

Yeah, I've seen that before. There were a couple I remember pertaining to Formula 1 racing though:

The Toyota engines of those racers are machined to such precision that when they are first started they need the oil heated because the engine is virtually seized. Hey there's an idea for the next person needing to unseize one of these here Studebaker engines .....

The same racers have a tire compound that if the vehicle does not maintain a certain speed, the tire will start to lose its stickiness, making the racers much more difficult to handle. This might be a prerequisite to needing skill behind one of these machines as they are quite finicky at slow speeds [)]..

As of last year, both top fuel and funny car only run 1,000'...not a quarter of a mile.

Yes, but once the smaller engine is implemented, a full 1320 feet will again be the standard.

The old info sounds more fun, thanks for posting that.
