Here's my swag... (fiction, mind you)
Was 3 lengths behind a Toyota* (* or add import car here)
Lost mind and tried to float valves catching up.
        Frozen wrist pin...(#3...or #4)..
Pounded out the bearing...broke the rod bolt.
        Blamed it on the nitrous[}]
Took it apart, left out to rust.
Put it back together with used parts.
        Still running today[|)].
Fade to commercial with beautiful music[]

I inherited a 289 awhile back. the nose of the cam let go when a tooth on the crank gear folded over.[xx(]

I had one of the early aluminum repop timing gears fail at about 3500 rpm on the 405 freeway in our old '61 Hawk. What a mess. Offy cam busted in three pieces, a whole mess of bent valves and pushrods. I know I wasn't the only fool who bought one of these when they first came out--should have went with a fiber gear, but I figured "why not" to the aluminium one.
