[?]Has anyone ever tried to hunt the original owner of their Studebaker?
According to the factory production sheet ....My Hawk was sent to dealer in Follansbee, West Virginia....(TA Myers) and it states (Sold Rush )on the order so it must have been special ordered.I would like to have the original owners name to put on the "limited production" tag for accuracy.Any help would be appreciated very much.

The only way I know would be if WV has kept title histories and the previous owners held the car into the '70's. A title search should let you know. If the car has crossed state lines, you are most likely out of luck.

I guess it would be nice to preserve the car right down to the special order tag, but Stude folks aren't that much about matching numbers and the proper clocking of hose clamps and screw slots. If it were mine, I'd wanna put MY name on that tag. In fact, since I assume you're gonna have that tag replicated, it can't cost much to have one made with your name and a blank or two. If you ever sell the car, pass along a blank tag so the next guy can have his name put on one.
There might even be a small market for those tags amongst SDC folks. Wouldn't even have to be a 61 Hawk to wear one!;)

Your right. I bought a used 61 Lark convertable in 64, with less than 30,000 miles on it, with that tag still on the dash. I was the 2nd owner. Dealer or owner installed, I don't know.
