Does anyone know the procedure to get an "in-transit" paper license plate for driving a car from Ohio to New York?

Local license bureau numbers... they said, in person, bring your NY (or any out of state) driver's license, SS# card & the Ohio title with the seller's notarized signature. I think it's under $10.00. Usually abbreviated hours on Saturdays. Good luck.

Edit: "You will be able to purchase temporary tags in Ohio for $10.50 and the temporary tag would be good for 30 days and you will receive a registration also. You may take the assigned title to a local Deputy Registrar's Office and receive a temporary tag to drive the vehicle. If you have any other questions, you can contact the Registration Division Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:30pm at the following phone number 1-800-589-8247.
Thank you for using the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles F.A.Q. System."

S.R.: Most people are smart enough not to have their ss# on their driver's license, so they ask that a card be brought in to verify the I.D. and prevent fraud.

Good GRIEF, they want a Social Security Card! :( [:0] [?]

Is a BLOOD test or your right...ah arm, still optional? :D

heh...

I think Ohio is the only state that I've lived in that made me take a (written) driver's test when moving to that state, even though I already had a valid license from another state.

Actually, making people retake their drivers' test when renewing their license wouldn't be a bad idea. Might do some good (I can dream?)

I think that people should be required to take a road test, including backing up and parallel parking, at least every decade.
