  • Bombed out Studebaker

I collect old photos of Studebakers and I have this set that was taken by a newspaper photographer in Utica, NY of a 63 Lark that looks like it was bombed. I don't know the story, but it was probably in the paper. I don't know the date, but it looks like a 70s Ford wagon next to it.

I hope that isn't blood under the right rear door in the second picture. [:0] Given the New York plates, is it possible that Mafia types were riding in Studebakers?

Notice the rot that has already started in the rockers. The explosion also knocked out the side window in the wagon.

Another case of the ignition switch working itself loose behind the dash, no doubt. [:0]

Either that, or the driver let out one hell of a fart!

Whatever happened, it looks as if someone got out and was curled up on the ground by the dark melted snow in the first picture. It must have been quite a force to expand the roof and destroy the steering wheel.
