  • '32 Indy car frame arrives

After waiting for some weeks, the brand new frame for a 1932 Studebaker Indy racer arrived in my garage on Tuesday. It's a very good reproduction of an original frame. Dimensions and details were copied from the #22 car in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. Even the spring mounts are there.

I picked up two 250 cu in engines last weekend. One of them will get rebuilt into the racing engine version which was offered by the factory in 1934. Maybe I should call this a 75th anniversary edition. I have 3 of the 4 EX-23 carbs I need [anyone got a spare or two?] as well as an aluminum high compression head.

I'm still looking for a 1932-33 President front axle and 4 Houdaille shocks. Who's got some things they will part with?

Now it's really starting to happen, Gary. Be sure to keep all of us posted on the progress!! [8D]

That frame looks sweet. But it'll look even sweeter with that Straight 8 sittin' in it.

It's way too early to be jealous...
          He's embarked on a quest.
There will be huge trials and tribulations during the way.
The fact that he is willing to share his journey is commendable.
Sharing the pain, and the passion is noble.
          But here's Garys' real challenge....
When he unveilss it at the really 'BIG' show......
Will he put it on the race track and flog it with only twenty miles on it??????
(He has been known to do that before[])
And who will be next to him pumping the fuel pump?
(Now THAT would be a neat charity raffle!)
          So many questions.......

Oh, just go here for some nice 'on track' shots.

A work of art, Gary. Congratulations. Keep the information flowing. (Did you ever touch bases with the guy in Paris IL who has the old-timey race car shop in the former Harley-Davidson dealership?) BP
We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.
