  • Splash guards on all 50's ?

I see on the page entitled "Fenders, hoods, misc. sheet metal Plate 16-3 for models 9G-17A that there is a 1604-9 piece that is inside the driver's side rear fender in addition to the rear one that is attached to the gas filler neck assembly. In redoing my 50 I saw no sign of such a part and have been considering making one and also making two for the passenger side rear fender as well. My question is, "Did the 50's have two of these inside each rear fender when they came out? Also, has anyone ever made their own?

    Let me add to this.
Springs in the driven plate (loose lined disk in the clutch) were painted
different colors to denote their strength.
After 60 years their color is often missing.
Studebaker tried to fine tune the driven disk to their transmissions
but rebuilder have the same number for all.
All these springs did was absorb some of the shock of releasing the clutch and certain combinations
of springs worked better than others but it is not critical.
The springs in the pressure plates however were also color coded and
would vary the amount of pressure needed on the clutch pedal
and the pressure on the driven disk to prevent slipping the clutch. Various combinations of springs were available.

There are two per side, one for the front side, as well as one on each side for the rear of the inner fender. The front attaches with the lowest bolt on the bottom of the fender behind the stone guard and with four or so, screws on the innner fender. Paul
