      Here's what you need...

As you slide the tool straight down over the door handle and window crank, there's a clip that gets spread apart by the jagged points on the tool,

Presto handle comes off, and then the panels.

The clip DOES NOT need to be spread apart to the point the clip comes off, just enough downward pressure as you pull the window/door crank away from the panel.

I always cup my hand around the handle just in case the clip decides to fly away [edge of palm against door panel] Those little clips disappear easily.

When you're ready to re-install, don't slide the handle on and then attempt to insert the clip. Fully insert the clip in the handle, then slide it on and seat the clip with a gentle firm whack.

The proper position of the clip is as the photo shows. So many times I have come across cars with that clip installed wrong. Same clip as used for many years on GM cars. When I go to a pull your part yard, I stock up on those clips for one. The parts house replacements have a square cross section & dont slide as easy as the oem ones.

Is the setup the same for both the regulator crank and the door opening handle? I'm not seeing the clip on the door opener.

Yes the window crank and the door handle use the same clip. The tool described works great, I have fiddled around using a flat end screwdriver to remove these but it is real tricky and can make you cuss. Yes watch clips they like to fly and hide.

Yes, the open end of the clip faces the arm of the handle so when you remove the handle, you slide the tool under the "arm" part forward. Same position for all regulator & door handles. Also, there should be a thin plastic washer that goes over the clip so the clip doesnt chew up by the plastic escutcheon that doesnt chew up the trim panel. So from the handle in the order is handle, clip, washer, escutcheon, trim panel. Hope that clears things. If not maybe studeman (ray) or studerich (rich) can explain it!!

I got it off. The thin plastic washer makes it hard to see the clip on the door handles. Thanx for all of the help!
