  • Window regulator

I'm having difficulty with the window regulator on my 60 Lark convertible. I was able to remove it from the passenger door (not an easy task) and tighten it up and grease it to get it to work. Installing it back is driving me crazy. My 59-64 Shop Manual gives some info on Larks and Hawks but nothing seems to match the regulator I have. It is back in the door and the handle side is screwed down. The rest of the spring loaded mechanism is not going together well and hard to do blind. There must be a set of steps to follow that is eluding me. I have done a search of the site and checked Tech tips but have not found anything. Can anyone suggest a set of steps or guide me to a picture that could help. Any tricks of the Masters?

Take it to an autoglass shop. They do this all day.

Thanks! In retrospect it seems like a no brainer. I'm so close to having it done though. I appreciate your suggestion and if there is no set of steps I'm missing, I'll do that.

Are you looking at the instructions for J models?

I think what Dwain is saying is: Convertibles and Hardtops (L & J) have the same door and door windows as each other, but are not even close to the same as: W,F,Y and D models, Sedans and Wagons. [:0]

Thanks to all! I ended up taking it to an auto glass shop and they got it done. I already had it in the door and the handle side screwed down. It took them an hour to get the rest fitted. Main problem was the excessive amount of tension on the spring mechanism. It took two of them to eventually manoeuvre it into position. I guess some things are tough.
