I don't remember who it was, but one fine gent from down under sent me this serial plate that he said was from a '65 or '66 Cruiser that was assembled there.

That's pretty neat Bob. I take it the C part of the body number is from Canada. That has to be the serial number, though, right? Are the Canadian export numbers available for those assembled there in Victoria?

That Continental & General plate was mounted on the left side firewall of our RHC vehicles assembled at that Plant. Originally we assembled at Canada Cycle & Motor Co at Tottenham here in Melbourne until around Oct 1964. Yes, that is a Canadian serial number from the CKD kits sent to Melbourne. Figure that vehicle was a March 1965 delivery.

Jim, does anyone reproduce them? All I have on my car is the plate on the left hand door, be nice to have one. Probably got the tag under the hood, can't recall will look later

John,
Your car is a '62 Lark so it was assembled by Canada Cycle & Motor Co & they did not attach an assembly plate like C & G. The changeover between the two assemblers occured in Oct 1964. Studebakers sold through the Sydney Distributor also carried their own identity plate on the firewall. To my knowledge no one reproduces these plates.

Hi Jim,
I have had a couple of Sydney delivered cars with the York Motors plates on them. One was a fully imported 60 Hawk.

Did Needhams motors cars have the York Motors plates on them or was that just a dealership thing ??

Greg

Good morning Greg,
In NSW York Motors were the Distributor & Needham Motors just one of the Dealers. To my knowledge Bert had no plates although he did have that neat rear window decal he designed.
You made it to Lancaster so lets see you in Ballarat ???
Regards, Jim.

Thanks jim, I guess it could have once had a Plaque from Champions here in Adelaide where it was delivered if so it's long gone, a nice car though.
