  • Studestalker Strikes Again

John has been on the road off and on for the past two weeks and has not seen one single Studebaker. Today, however, he had a change of luck. While on the road and in the middle of a work crisis in Grand Junction, CO, he saw this Lark in someone's yard. A quick u-turn later and he was whipping out his camera to record the event. He called Tracy to let her know the good news and was back on the road again.

A mile or two down the road, he began to wonder whether the truck in the neighbor's yard was actually a Studebaker, too (Tracy's generally better at identifying Studebakers...not good, just better). Another u-turn and he was staring at a Studebaker cement mixer! Loving work trucks as we do, this was like hitting the lottery for John. As he heads up to Portland in the near future, he will continue to look for these little gold mines along the way.

it looks like 100 feet or so, not a mile or so (both are in this pic).

that cement mixer sure is neat!

I never see Studies here in the "winter wonderland" (as the license plates used to say).

              Nice looking 61 (for sale?)

And you just don't see too many mixers. Get a couple of these together and would make a fun day of building a 40x60 [^] Most of my traveling is on the interstate and viewing Studebakers right off the interstate rarely happens, however, I've seen more Studebakers on "parking lot" trailer transports than beside the road. Heck when you have the ITIS you'll look for Studes anywhere.

Smiths...what came of the poll on your blog?

                  Those are great looking mixers!
The commercial use Studebaker trucks are so nice for people to see. Unfortunately they don't usually get driven to many distant shows.
Has there been a Turning Wheels article specifically on Mixer Trucks, or similar Commercial Trucks?
I have seen a few photo's included in articles of certain years truck models.
Our latest commercial acquisition will arrive in Bellingham soon and will post some pics.

I owned a green 1961 two door sedan like that one. I sold it with 56K miles on it. It was/is a 259 with three speed standard. It was one of the nice '61s that I owned. I can't imagine that this is the same car.

I think he meant he had driven a mile or two down the road when he began to wonder if the truck he'd seen across from the Lark ("in the neighbor's yard")was a Stude truck. Thus the U-turn to go back.

No knock on the door for that '61, John? [:0] Can't just be a paparrazo! You must have narrowed down the search if you weren't interested in that one. Thanks, Kurt, I was going to point out the same thing.
