  • GT leaf springs plastic inserts

    Hello to all!

There are "plastic pads" in between the leafs of this set of 62 GT hawk rear leaf springs. I was able to get new ones from Studebaker International. These inserts are hex shaped, and fit in small indentations in the springs--I assume these are anti-squeak. My question is:

Do they "Glue" in or what? And if so what kind of glue do I use?
Or, are they just trapped in between the leafs, and don't require any adhesive? Help!

    Thanks again----Dan

Glue helps hold them in place during assembly, but they are only supposed to be trapped in there...

DO NOT lubricate them thinking it will help them slide... all that does is attract dirt, and now you have sandpaper between your leafs.

      Dear Studeman:

We need help with the installation of the rear window moldings of a 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk. Do you have any written instructions or photos?

      Thank you.

Karen, you'd be ahead to start a new thread. The stainless moldings surrounding front and rear windows on almost all Studebakers are applied to the molding before it and the window (glass) is put in the opening.
